Most of the factors that lead to an employee’s burnout are out that employee’s control. I’d always thought of burnout as being the result of a poor time management or delegation. We all know someone of that stereotype – that type-A workaholic. But an organization’s leadership, vision, and operations can have a serious influence on burnout.
Burnout has three components: exhaustion (lost energy), cynicism (lost enthusiasm), and inefficacy (lost self-confidence and capacity to perform), but you don’t have to be experiencing all three in order to suffer serious consequences.
